Phoenix Open – betting tips 59

Alex Noren impressed last week at the Farmers Insurance Open and was unfortunate to lose in a playoff. Normally that sort of performance would see him shorten for his next start but the Monday finish has seen his price drift since betting for the Phoenix Open started.

What I like about Noren is that when he gets hot, he stays hot. In the second half of 2016 he won four times in eleven starts and his purple patch in 2017 produced results of 10-1-15-MC-10.

Possibly underrated because of his lack of experience on the PGA Tour people forget he finished tenth at the Players and T5 at the Match Play last season. The world number 16 is too big in the betting.

1pt each-way Alex Noren at 45/1 Stan James (6 places; 1/5 odds)

Reigning champion , Hideki , a possible winner but single figure odds means a no no punting wise. My fancy players this week have been tipped by a lot of you guys lately in recent tournaments , and have played well without threatening the top 10.
    Maybe victory awaits…….
    Byeong Hun An….55/1
    J J Spaun………….70/1

    Hi Simon and All
Going with JJ Spaun this week. Well placed last year and seems to be striking it ok.
    Doubled into Andy Sullivan.
Also Ryan Ruffels @$51 for the Victorian Open here in Australia.

Below a snippet from the VicOpen website
One of the nation’s brightest young talents, Ruffels peaked at 13th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings in January 2016 before he took the leap into the pro ranks as a 17-year-old.
After splitting his time on the PGA Tour in the US and the PGA Tour Latinoamérica further south for the last two years, Ruffels returns to his home state Open with fond memories of the Barwon Heads layout.

He shared Low Amateur honours in 2015 with fellow Victorian young gun Ben Eccles, the duo finishing T3, just two strokes out of a playoff.

“It’s a course and a tournament that I’ve played well at, I remember as an amateur in 2015 I had a good event that week and got myself in contention,” said Ruffels.

Longer odds pick Hend n Piercy singles/doubles.
Looked at Poom Hossler n Stuard but no greens down.
    1rl leader Paisley n Ulhein single/double

I’ve not finalised all my bets for waste management open yet.
On the euro tour I looked at all the events in Asia in the last couple of years there are certain names that keep popping up on on different courses in different country’s so I’ve bet a few of them at big prices.

Alexander levy/super pats -4.5 to win superbowl 28/1
Dylan fratelli/super pats to win superbowl 33/1
David lipsky/super pats to win superbowl 60/1
    Scott hend 80/1
    Danny willett 125/1
    Lucas bjerregaard 150/1

    As always good luck all.

    • Ron B

Sick of the Pats looking forward to that dynasty coming to an end their like Utd under Fergie – pretty sure that part of your double is locked in Craig – good luck

      • Craig h

Being a patriots fan it’s really bugging me that I really fancy them this week as 2012 was the last superbowl I was confident going into and that was a heartbreaker against the giants.
My only fall back this week is I have a pre season ante post bet on the eagles at 40/1, so if it all goes wrong I can book a holiday while crying in my beer at 04.00 in the morning.

        • Pigpen

Good work Craig ….you’re winning either way ….long been a tradition with my mates to enjoy Super Bowl night and have a few cheeky spread bets. You know life’s pretty weird when you’re betting that Paradise will be the first song Coldplay play 🤣 In the half time show ( I think it turned out to be Yello)

          • Craig h

If you want a random bet for the halftime show this year pigpen, paddy power are/were 7/5 Justin Timberlake to sing a Prince song.
This year’s superbowl is in Minnesota where Prince was from and Timberlake seemingly covers Prince songs during his own shows anyway.

In the States gone outright e/w with Holmes, Berger & Piercy and 5 FRL e/w’s on Goosen, Finau, Holmes, Cauley & Kuchar. In Malaysia Dean Burmester has to shoot 4 rounds with out a silly few holes thrown in at some point an 8 a few weeks back and 3 silly holes in a row last week have killed his chances. Also on Aphibarnrat and Porteous.

  • Craig h

A bit late to the party with waste management bets.

    Rahmbo/patriots -4.5 for the superbowl 21/1
    Daniel Berger 33/1
    Benny An 50/1
    Keegan Bradley 66/1
    Peter uihlein 125/1

  • Greg

Well done dodger and what a weekend Ronnie. Good stuff. All you need is the Patriots to get rolled. lol. They are struggling against the eagles defence atm.

I’m losing a little faith on Rickie’s finishing abilities on the Sunday lately. I’m sure when I drop off him he’ll win.
