The Oman Open is a new event for the European Tour and is in effect an upgrade for a tournament that was the season finale on the Challenge Tour. There are several players in the field for whom the Al Mouj Golf course won’t be a new experience and although that might lead them to being over-bet that doesn’t seem to have happened with Marcus Kinhult.
The young Swede finished second in Oman last season but there’s more than just course form to this bet. Kinhult has been on my radar since he led the Nordea Masters in 2015 when still an amateur. He eventually finished T33 but backed it up with a T10 at the European Masters.
After that he learned his trade on the Challenge Tour and now looks ready to make the step up in grade. So far this season he is 3/4 in cuts made and finished T12 at the SA Open on his last start. He’s not had much golf since then but this isn’t the strongest of fields and on a course he knows he carries a slight advantage.
1pt e/w Marcus Kinhult at 66/1 with Coral (7 places; 1/5 odds)
